Perun, the highest God of the Pantheon of the Slavic mythology  is mostly connected with thunder and bolts. Just some minutes from the city of Split we find a place of significance in Slavic mythology with one of the very few remaining stone plates with carved Perun.
In Slavic times, places honoring the Perun were always located in areas with valley with river set just under hill or mountain. In Žrnovnica, passing just some steps away from the church we find river Žrnovnica and opposite is the beautiful hill of Perun. Typical dalmatian dinaric  offering breathtaking mixture of white, green and blue.
Place where you feel like being with gods while walking or biking and savoring the breathtaking views. Perun is rarely visited as the hiking or biking tour.  Lacking the attitude local people forgot to enjoy in the stunning beauty of it's rocks, great oak trees (another Perun mark), violet of blooming Iris flowers (locally called Perunika), red of the roofs in old villages and all shades of blue.
Hiking from south face of the hill to the top and passing to the north side the deep blue is quickly replaced by the deep green. This is one of the places  where you still find real Dalmatia.Walking through old villages where time stands still, seeing people tend to their land the old fashioned way, visiting numerous old churches and chapels, tasting the traditional simple foods from konoba's, enjoying WINE from the local winemaker, as here the wine is life and every respectful household has its own wine.
